Product Description

Coming up next on DRR we have ‘Sweat of the Sun’ the third album by DDT, the experimental project formed by members of Carlton Melton and White Manna, two of my favourite bands of the modern psych scene.  Like with their previous records, this album was recorded at 3D Light in Northern California where tracks evolved from several  jam sessions and  improvisations with steel & electric guitars, synthesisers, bass and double drums. Unlike their previous release, 2021’s ‘Freshwater’, which saw more members joining in with various parts and overdubs, ‘Sweat Of The Sun’ sees DDT paired down to just the core members, Anthony Taibi and Andy Duvall, with a looser, more laid back feel.

The band has dedicated ‘Sweat of the Sun’ to the memory of Anders Bröstrom, AKA Domboshawa, who sadly passed away at the end of 2023. It was Andy Duvall from the band who introduced me to Anders’ music and started a relationship spanning six releases on Drone Rock Records. This album is a perfect tribute to a wonderful, kind and extremely talented man who I was fortunate to consider a friend and who I am certain would be honoured by the gesture.

‘Sweat of the Sun’ is a super limited pressing of just 250 copies on ‘Psychedelic Sun” coloured vinyl with the cover art giving a knowing nod to an iconic LP by the 13th Floor Elevators; simply perfect timing considering this pre-order coincides with Easter Weekend.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A PRE-ORDER AND CUSTOMER ORDERS ARE NOT DUE TO BE POSTED OUT UNTIL MID APRIL AFTER I RECEIVE THE RECORDS FROM THE PRESSING PLANT.

DDT

Northern California’s DDT formed in early 2019, amid a month-long January rain. Comprised of past, present and future members of Carlton Melton and White Manna, DDT released their debut album, ‘Enter The Bend’, on Drone Rock Records in late 2019. ‘Enter The Bend’ is an album of improvisations and one takes that captures DDT’s first musical moments. Their second album, ‘Freshwater’, was released in the summer of 2021, again on Drone Rock Records. Their latest record, ‘Sweat of the Sun’ is due to be released on Drone Rock Records in Spring ’24.
