Product Description

After a five year absence, Drone Rock Records are pleased to announce the welcome return of GNOB. After several line up changes the band are back with their long-awaited second album which sees them develop and enhance their distinctive blend of heavy psych and stoner-rock mixed with Arabian and Far Eastern influences.  Fresh off the back of their appearance earlier this year at the UK’s premier heavy/stoner-rock festival, DesertFest, and now operating as a four piece, GNOB are on a roll and this sophomore release captures the band at full throttle. Their debut album, ‘Electric Dream Demon’, is right up with some of the most popular releases on Drone Rock Records and this follow-up is sure to provoke the same kind of reaction.

“This is an album of lengthy sorties interspersed with shorter interludes that works brilliantly well. No doubt like its predecessor it will be in big demand and it will be worth diving in quickly to pick up one of the 300 limited blood-red vinyl copies that have been pressed.”

Isolation

‘Gnob II’ is a super limited pressing of 300 copies pressed on blood-red vinyl. As with all Drone Rock Records releases, any vinyl purchases made via the DRR website come with an instant download of the album.

GNOB

GNOB are a heavy psych 4-piece band based in and around East London. They are influenced by psychedelic and traditional music from around the world, resulting in an eclectic fusion of Eastern, Arabic, psych, rock, and fuzz. Formed in 2014 by drummer Morten Jorgensen (Last Seen Wearing) and guitar/bass player Glenn Wild (Puffer) in Hackney Wick, London. They were soon joined by guitarist/vocalist Nicholas Georgiou (Sonic Mass) and released their self-recorded debut EP, ‘Temple of Sinners’, in 2015.  This was followed later that year by their first studio recording, the ‘Reverend Bill’s One-Way Trip/Nomad’ single, as well as ‘Cosmosis’ (a collection of improvisations from their early days as a duo). Following the departure of Glenn early in 2016, bass player Ben Le Marchant (also of Sonic Mass) joined the group. This line up recorded the ‘Shrunken Head’ EP, released in 2017, and their debut full-length album, ‘Electric Dream Demon’, released in 2018 on Drone Rock Records.

In 2019, Nicholas left the band to form Trigger alongside Ben and drummer Richard Noakes (Derelics). Trigger went on in late 2020 to release the ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ EP.  Ben remained in GNOB and he and Morten recruited guitarist Luke Tomkins (Vendorbelly). They released the self-recorded ‘High Priestess’ EP in early 2020.  Morten left the country in late 2020, and the future of GNOB was uncertain until Nicholas re-joined the band in 2021, bringing Richard with him on drums. After gigging extensively in London and the South-East across late 2021 through 2022, the group went into the studio to record the next full-length album. The title of the new album, ‘GNOB II’, gives a nod to the fact that no founding member remains in the band, yet still the spirit of GNOB lives on. GNOB are:-

Nicholas Georgiou – Guitar, Vocals

Ben Kenobi Le Marchant – Bass Guitar

Luke Tomkins – Guitar

Richard Noakes – Drums, Percussion
